This paper outlines the main challenges of taxation in financing social protection in Latin America with a focus on women. The common factor in all countries has been their exclusion or low-quality inclusion due to the strong gender biases of most of the schemes implemented. This result requires analyzing social protection systems and proposing the necessary changes so that they become mechanisms that contribute to guaranteeing women's rights and reducing inequalities.
